Breakdown in industrial relations at Hammersmith Service Control Centre

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, HAMMERSMITH SERVICE CONTROL CENTRE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Over recent years, RMT Reps have raised various issues concerning recruitment and retention within Service Control to London Underground. However, management have failed to act to resolve these matters and having considered a report from the Lead Officer, the National Executive Committee has declared a breakdown in industrial relations at Hammersmith Service Control Centre due to the following:-

'Zero hours' employment in Tube control rooms unacceptable

I previously advised you that a dispute situation arose when London Underground sought to bring back retired staff in to perform Service Control duties, but on agency terms and conditions and on zero hours contracts (Ref: IR/159/20, 1st May 2020).

I previously advised you of the magnificent and unanimous 15-0 vote of our Service Controller members at Osborne House to take strike action (Ref: IR/023/20, 15th January 2020) over a breakdown in industrial relations at the location.

RMT writes to LU to discuss concerns about CBTC system

INTRODUCTION OF CBTC, METROPOLITAN LINE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

I previously advised you that, with regard to a resolution submitted by our Neasden Branch which highlighted a number of areas of concern for members working in Trains, Stations and Service Control over the introduction of the new Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), I was instructed to inform London Underground that a failure to address these matters would result in a dispute situation existing (Ref: IR/515/19, 18th December 2019).

That we note the resolution from our London Transport Regional Council regarding the appalling conditions of work at Hammersmith Service Control Centre.

Accordingly, we instruct the Generally Secretary to arrange an urgent meeting of our Local Tier 1 and Tier 2 Service Control H&S representatives, the Lead Officer, Senior
Assistant General Secretary with members of the NEC in attendance.

Ballot matrix prepared over SSL Point Care Signalling Department issues

Subject: BREACH OF AGREEMENT, SSL POINT CARE SIGNALLING DEPARTMENT – LONDON UNDERGROUND

That we note the meeting took place between our workplace representatives, Track & Signals Functional representatives, Senior Assistant General Secretary and members of the NEC following the resolution passed at our 2019 AGM, and the company are persisting with breaching of our agreements.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to prepare a ballot matrix of affected members and advise the company that a dispute situation now exists between our two organisations.

The closing date for the Transformation Ballot is Tuesday 16th July. It is very important that everyone has a vote and uses it as there are legal thresholds to achieve.
