The policies of the Regional Council, decided by resolutions passed at Regional Council meetings

Resolution: LU Jobs and Safety Dispute

This resolution, submitted by Bakerloo branch, proposed by East Ham and seconded by LU Engineering, was carried by the November meeting of the Regional Council.

The LTRC congratulates all RMT and TSSA members for their solidarity and determination to resist the attacks on our job from the tube bosses and the Tory Mayor. We also place on record our thanks and sincere appreciation to those non members who respected our picket lines.

Flexible Working & Parental Leave Legislation

The following resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch and seconded by Stratford no.1 branch, was passed unanimously by the November meeting of the Regional Council.

That this Branch deplores the weakness of Flexible Working and Parental Leave legislation. The legislation only requires the Employer to "consider" a request by parents and carers for arrangements which allow them to work and take care of their families.

Resolution to Regional Council: Escalation of Industrial Action

This resolution, submitted by East Ham branch and seconded by Camden 3 branch, was carried at to the October meeting of the Regional Council:

This Regional Council notes:

The 24hr strikes and the action short of strike on London Underground have been a very successful in shifting the dynamic between the workforce and LU management.

The co-ordinated action between the RMT and TSSA has been both industrially successful and politically significant in boosting morale and organisation of the rank and file across all sectors.

Emergency resolution: Stop victimisations

This resolution, submitted by Morden & Oval and seconded by Camden 3, was carried unanimously at the October meeting of the Regional Council.

This Regional Council deplores the disciplinary action being taken against Arwyn Thomas, a dedicated and long-serving activist of this union. We fully support the call for industrial action on the Northern Line in support of Arwyn. We also support the campaigns against victimisation of other reps, including Eamonn Lynch and Peter Hartshorn.

International Conference Against Disappearances

This resolution, submitted by the Regional Executive, was carried unanimously by the October meeting of the Regional Council:

That this Regional Council sponsors the International Conference Against Disappearances that is taking place in London from December 9 – 12 2010 and agrees to send delegates.

That we promote the Conference through internal mailings and amongst branches.

That we request the Council of Executives to sponsor the Conference and seek support from branches nationally.

Resolution: London Underground Attendance Policy

This resolution, submitted by Morden & Oval branch and amended by Finsbury Park branch, was passed unanimously by October's Regional Council meeting.

This Regional Council notes that management are pressurising members to sign agreements regarding their attendance performance. This has led to our members who have failed to meet this attendance target level being dismissed.

The Regional Council reaffirms its opposition to management's attendance policy.

Resolution to Regional Council: RMT Website

The following resolution, submitted by Neasden Branch, was passed at the September meeting of the Regional Council ...

This Regional Council notes the sterling work carried out by the webmaster at RMT, with the provisions of the current RMT Website, RMTV and RMT Junction.

We feel that the RMT website as it is, is outdated, difficult to use, and not effective enough to communicate with our members.
