Regional Council policy

The policies of the Regional Council, decided by resolutions passed at Regional Council meetings

Resolution: Cleaners and Immigration Rights

This resolution, submitted by thee Regional Council Executive, was passed at the November 2009 meeting of the Regional Council.

In the light of resolutions passed at AGMs to support our members in the cleaning grades and oppose exploitation of migrant workers and in recognition of the facts that:

  1. Most of our cleaning members are from ethnic minorities.
  2. The various cleaning and other companies have used immigration rules to systematically exploit those who have organised in trade unions.

Resolution: Service Control Apprentices

This resolution, submitted by Neasden branch and seconded by Hammersmith & City branch, was passed unanimously at the November 2009 meeting of the Regional Council.

This Branch condemns the callous attitude shown by Management, particularly HR, towards apprentices and ex-apprentices and other groups of members in Service Control. The Management aim is to redeploy these members despite being promised jobs in Service Control.

Emergency Resolution: CWU Dispute

This resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch and seconded by TfL no.1 branch, was passed by the October meeting of the Regional Council.

That the region condemn the use of scab labour to undermine the just CWU dispute. We call on the council of executives to support the CWU, financially, politically and through the TUC to defeat this tactic.

Resolution: Proposal for setting up a Bus Workers' branch

This resolution, submitted by Central Line West branch and seconded by Neasden branch, was passed unanimously by the October meeting of the Regional Council.

As the number of Bus Workers within the M25 in the RMT fast approaches the 1000 mark we propose that a Bus Workers branch/es be set up in order that Bus Workers may be better served by having those within their specific industry with the knowledge of that industry readily available to the members.

Resolution: Standing up to the Employers' Clampdown

This resolution, proposed by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by TfL no.1 branch, was passed by the October meeting of the Regional Council ...

This Regional Council notes that our members continue to experience oppressive treatment at work, including: over-the-top disciplinary punishments, harsh attendance policies, heavy workloads, management pressure and bullying.

Resolution: Conduct of Jobs/Pay/Justice Dispute

This resolution, submitted by Stratford no.1 and seconded by Neasden, was carried at the September meeting of the Regional Council:

This region believes that before any further industrial action on the outstanding issues in our current dispute with LUL, there should be a new ballot or referendum of all members involved.

We also believe that before the union accepts any pay offer from LUL management, there must be a reps’ meeting and a referendum of all members.
