Regional Council policy

The policies of the Regional Council, decided by resolutions passed at Regional Council meetings

Resolution: Economic Crisis

This resolution, submitted by LU Fleet branch, was passd unanimously by the August meeting of the Regional Council.

Branch notes:

That the economic crisis, internationally and domestically, is leading to soaring unemployment, insecurity and devastation of communities.

UK unemployment is well over 2 million and headed sharply upwards. But much worse is to come. Nearly half a million people have now been unemployed for at least 12 months.

Resolution: Fighting the BNP

This resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch, was passed unanimously by the July meeting of the Regional Council.

This Region region totally condemns the activities of the racists and facists that call themselves the BNP.

To this end this region will: * join the protest in Codnor Derbyshire, against the Red, White and Blue Fascist "festival" organised by the BNP in Derbyshire on Saturday 15th August. * It will also produce badges for its Region's members "LT Region aginst Racism" (The LU Engineering Branch agrees to donate £500 to the cost) *

Resolution: Reverse Privatisation

This resolution, submitted by LU Fleet and Piccadilly & District West branches, was passed unanimously at the July meeting of the Regional Council.

The RMT has always taken a firm stand against privatisation and contracting out of work. We should step up our campaign for all infrastructure work, cleaning, catering and other work associated with London Underground to be integrated into LUL and the staff currently employed taken in house on LU pay and conditions.

Revenue Control Training

This resolution, submitted by Central Line West and Hammersmith & City branches, was passed unanimously at the May 2009 meeting of the Regional Council.

This Council condemns the poor treatment of members of staff who after 2 years are still waiting for Revenue Control Training.

The London Underground Revenue Dept has at Least 12 Vacancies which could be filled. LUL's excuse is that it would cost more money. However these are existing vacancies that should be covered by the existing budget.

Resolution: Childcare Expenses

LU Engineering branch submits the following resolution for discussion at the next meeting of the Regional Council.

This branch notes that the Regional Council pays £15 to the cost of child care for those attending the LT Regional Council Meetings. We believe that this should be changed to be the full amount of the cost. This belief is based on low take up and therefore overall cost of the scheme and that it is several years since this was altered and costs have risen.

Resolution: Revised Pay Offer

This resolution, submitted by Neasden branch and seconded by LU Engineering branch, was passed unanimously at the Regional Council meeting on 30 April 2009.

The Regional Council notes that LUL have now increased their 5-year pay offer to include increases of RPI plus 0.5% in years 2-5.

This offer remains entirely unacceptable in terms of both pay and the continued TfL redundancy process and withdrawal from no redundancy agreements that previously applied to all members.

Resolution: Blame the bosses and the bankers - jobs for all - workers should not pay for the crisis

This resolution, submitted by LU Fleet and TfL no.1 branches, was passed at the April meeting of the Regional Council, with 10 votes in favour, none against and 3 abstentions.

The economic crisis threatens the jobs and living standards of billions of people across the world. It is essential that the trade union and labour movement fights to prevent the bosses and governments making workers pay for their crisis.

Resolution: Where is our RMT Challenge to LU/TFL?

This resolultion, submitted by TfL no.1 branch and seconded by LU Engineering branch, was passed unanimously by the April meeting of the Regional Council.

The LTRC requests that a RMT legal challenge is sought ASAP.

It is obvious that LUL lied to us in the run up to the Metronet TUPE on the 7th December when they told us there were no economic changes planned, despite the overwhelming planning behind the Operational Cost Review.

Resolution: Rank and file members be heard

This resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch and seconded by LU Engineering branch, was passed unanimously at the Regional Council meeting on 30 April 2009.

This LTRC request the EC hear what the rank and file members of the LTRC have to say before their decision is made as to further actions required in regard to the result of the ballot.

We are asking for the following process:

1) Result of ballot 2) Mass meeting held that evening 3) EC attends as necessary to hear rank and file members 4) Decision then made by EC the following day

Resolution: Defend Redeployment Rights in TubeLines

The following resolution, submitted by LU Fleet branch and seconded by LU Engineering branch, was passed unanimously at the April meeting of the Regional Council ...

Following the reorganisation of admin and HR roles in TubeLines operations some of our members were displaced to the redeployment pool.

As a consequence of the reorganisation one of the HR assistant posts has remained vacant despite three attempts to fill it internally.
