National Meeting of RMT Station Staff Representatives

SOS - STAFF OUR STATIONS CAMPAIGN

DONCASTER TRADE UNION & LABOUR CLUB
19 South Mall
Frenchgate Centre
Doncaster
DN1 1LL

As part of our ongoing campaign for the re-staffing of ALL stations and against the proposals in the McNulty Report, I have been directed by the Annual General Meeting to arrange a meeting with the Station Staff Representatives for all Train Operating Companies and London Underground Ltd.

In this regard, the emergency resolution from our National Conference of Station and Associated Grades 2011 which was carried at the AGM, is as follows:

“This Conference recognises the full scale onslaught by employers on Station Staffing levels. This is a threat to Station Staff jobs to safety and service standards and to the help available to other grades. We request the Union to launch and run a National Campaign entitled ‘SOS – Staff Our Stations’ to include:

- Industrial Action against any attacks by employers on Station Staffing
- Co-ordination of action across the different companies
- SOS merchandise eg badges, stickers, t-shirts
- Regional rallies
- A National Press launch

Having asked for a National Campaign on this question in several previous years, we hope that the Union will now run a serious, high profile campaign on this vital issue.”

Invitations are extended to all Second Stage Station Staff Representatives (Company Councillors) on a paid release basis and I have asked all Regional Organisers to make the necessary arrangements for this. In the event that paid release is not obtainable for all Representatives, priority will be given to Staff Side Chairs and Secretaries. All other Reps will be able to claim for loss of earnings from Head Office.

Invitations are also extended to Local and Health & Safety Station Staff Representatives but please be mindful that expenses cannot be met by Head Office. However, Branches may legitimately fund delegates from their Branch Management Fund if they wish.

Please be advised, that the campaign is targeted at the whole of the railway industry and delegation is sought from all Train Operating Companies and London Underground Ltd.

Best wishes.

Bob Crow
General Secretary
