This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which has taken the decision to call on all affected members NOT TO BOOK ON for any shifts that commence between:-

  • 21:00 hours on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 and 20:59 hours on Thursday 24th March 2016.
  • 12:00 hours on Tuesday 19th April 2016 and 11:59 hours on Wednesday 20th April 2016
  • 12:00 hours on Thursday 21st April 2016 and 11:59 hours on Friday 22nd April 2016.

Additionally, members are instructed NOT TO BOOK ON AT OAKWOOD from 00:01 hours on Friday 25th March 2016, until further notice. Members should instead book on with the Duty Train Staff Manager (DTSM) at Ash House, Arnos Grove Depot. To comply with legal advice, this instruction is suspended for the duration of the strike action but will commence again immediately after each strike ends and continuously from 12:00 hours on Friday 22nd April 2016.

An avoidance of dispute meeting took place with the Company last week but regrettably, management failed to address members’ main concerns over the abuse of the disciplinary process and the breaches of our agreements. RMT demanded that the warnings against members over ‘booking on’ be withdrawn immediately but management only suggested that the issue is referred back to Level 1 discussions. We also asked for a weekly line meeting to be chaired by the General Manager to address the industrial relations crisis on the Piccadilly Line but management’s response was to suggest that the existing meeting structures continue, although these are clearly not sufficient.

As always we remain available for further talks to resolve this dispute and the Company has now agreed to attend these talks under the auspices of the conciliation service ACAS. I will keep you informed of all further developments.

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash

General Secretary
