RMT responds to 'independent panel' report on TfL finances

Subject: INDEPENDENT PANEL REVIEW – TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

“That we note the report from our lead officer.

The report of the so-called “independent Panel” is a disgraceful document that seeks to justify imposing job cuts, transport service cuts and additional taxation onto the working class of London. RMT rejects the report entirely and demands that the mayor immediately does the same and undertakes not to act on any of the report’s findings.

Cubic pay offer accepted

Following discussions with the Company regarding the above, the offer which was received in full and final settlement of our claim was as follows:-

A 1.5% increase, effective from 1st April 2020

This offer applies to both the UTS Technicians and London Cycle Hire Contracts.

Government eyes attack on living wage

RMT pledges co-ordinated campaign to defend pay as Government eyes attack on living wage

TRANSPORT UNION RMT said today that it will mount a co-ordinated campaign to defend wages and to protect the low paid as it was reported that the Government is planning to renege on commitments on the living wage. 

General Secretary Mick Cash said;

Government proposes savage cuts on London Underground and Overground

TRANSPORT UNION RMT has revealed today that the Government proposes savage cuts on London Underground and Overground in spite of the high productivity levels of its workers.

The proposed cuts are part of an austerity package being demanded by the Government in exchange for a 6 month period of ‘workplace reform’ including a return to the idea of ‘driverless trains’ and an attack on workers’ pension schemes.

Most drivers will be aware of the Boxing Day “agreement” that was hastily signed off by Aslef about 9 years ago. It was a very unsatisfactory deal because the bonus of £350 wasn’t index linked and has consequently gone down in value every year.

New leaflet: Vote Yes for strike action on pay & conditions

The NEC has taken the decision to ballot all LUL members over pay & conditions.

We will not accept an either/or offer that asks us to chose between protecting our pay or addressing fatigue and working hours.

Please circulate this new leaflet. There are printed copies available at Unity House from Thursday 5 March. Please ensure every workplace has copies in the mess rooms and on notice boards.
