RMT to fight London Underground plans to abolish Night Tube Train Drivers grade.
TUBE UNION RMT said today that it will fight plans by London Underground to abolish the Night Tube Train Drivers grade – if necessary through a campaign of industrial action.
Dear Colleagues
RMT is appalled by the way London Underground has acted over Night Tube “grade consolidation”. Instead of accommodating those NT drivers who want to go full time, they attempt to do away with the grade completely and impose Night Tube shifts on the TO21 drivers.
London Underground management have told us that they are desperate for drivers. Night Tube drivers are fully trained up and many of them are eager to begin a full-time role. The solution therefore is simple: those Night Tube drivers who want to be full time should be promote as a matter of urgency.

The national union made it clear to the Government, London Underground and the train operating companies that although we would work with them, any variation to agreements would need to be time-limited to the period of the pandemic.
The RMT trains functional council has organised a meeting to discuss Night Tube issues.

All drivers are encouraged to attend. For the Zoom login details speak to a local rep, or contact us at www.rmtlondoncalling.org.uk/feedback.
Please see the attached newsletter for more information of the issues being discussed.
The recent TfL financial review has made it clear to all London Underground members that we are all going to have to fight hard for our jobs, terms and conditions, pensions and benefits. The government, the Mayor’s office and London Underground management are determined that the financial burden of the COVID 19 crisis will fall on London’s workers in general and on London Underground staff in particular.
