Commitments made at Company Council undermined by ridiculous LUOH advice & LUL Change Assurance Plan

« Directors tell us no-one in vulnerable category will be forced to come to work

« There is no plan at present to ramp up the service towards BAU

« But ridiculous advice from LUOH breaks Social Distancing guidance

« And CAP tries to abolish right to refuse unsafe work

The advice from your union is clear. Follow the advice of Public Health England. Maintain social distancing.

Trains Functional Council Update March 2020

On March 26th the RMT joined with Aslef and LUL management in an ad-hoc TFC meeting, the vast majority of which was spent discussing the effects of Corona Virus (CV) on drivers. The RMT recognises that we are living in extraordinary times and that to achieve the safest outcomes for our members we have to engage in constructive discussions. However, we refuse to make hasty decisions which may create short-term benefits but result in serious problems in the future. LUL put a number of proposals to us, some of which we agreed to consider and we will return to further talks on Tuesday 31st.

12-Week 'Shielding'

RMT London Transport Regional Council Disabled Members Covid-19 Bulletin no.3 – 26 March 2020

Also attached as PDF and Word files.

Government advice is for people considered to be ‘extremely vulnerable’ to Covid-19  to ‘shield’ (stay at home with no contact with anyone other than carers) for twelve weeks. The government specifies that this group includes:

1. Solid organ transplant recipients.

2. People with specific cancers:

RMT members have been working flat out to keep the Tube running

To RMT members in London Transport Region from Regional Organiser John Leach and NEC rep Jared Wood

Dear Colleagues

It goes without saying that everyone in the country and the world are living through the pandemic, but this message is specifically for RMT members in the London Transport region.

Since the crisis unfolded, RMT members have been working flat out 24/7 to keep the tube running and, through the union, to keep the job safe and ourselves healthy.

Petition to Reinstate Ezra Christian

Petition to Reinstate Ezra

Whilst we are working tirelessly to maintain good industrial relations at this difficult time our colleague remains dismissed, this is not good for him nor our critical workers who need every bit of support getting to where they need to by qualified and hardworking people like Ezra.

Government call ‎to reinstate a full Tube service is grossly irresponsible

RMT slams grossly irresponsible "business as usual" lines from government on London Underground

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:

"At a time when we are trying to encourage people to stay away from the tube so we can concentrate on moving essential workers the government call ‎to reinstate a full service is grossly irresponsible as it suggests it's business as usual. That flies in the face of everything they have said about staying at home.

RMT secures 4 year pay rise for London Underground members

Dear colleague

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 – LONDON UNDERGROUND

You will know that your union had rejected two “full and final” offers on pay from London Underground, to cover the years commencing on 1st April on 2019-2022. These offers were rejected as your representatives expressed the anger and concern of you and your colleagues as the offers did nothing to address issues of fatigue and excessive working hours or the spiralling cost of living.

Coronavirus Crisis - LUL & Governemnet Must Act Now

« LUL must reduce usage now

« Government must shut down construction sites and guarantee pay of all self-employed/Gig economy workers

« Agreed enhanced cleaning plans must be put into action now

« Station staff must be told to work behind glass and only work in public areas when essential for safety reasons

Government nationalises losses for TOCs but will keep paying them to 'manage' our rail services.

The government is to nationalise the losses that TOCs are making due to the Coronavirus but will continue to pay the private shareholders a management fee.

Full article from FT can be downloaded here.

RMT will be demanding full nationalisation of the assets as well as the losses. The privatised rail industry has bled the state dry for years. Now, in this time of crisis, it has to stop.

Coronavirus: Trains Safety Council Update

Covid-19 crisis update
Today the RMT THSC took part in a conference call with LU to discuss the ongoing Covid-19 crisis and
measures that were being put in place to reduce risk to all parties.

In response to this crisis emergency timetables are now in place so as to allow key workers to get around. This plan has clearly not worked with trains, especially early in the morning, carrying large amounts of people making social distancing impossible.
