RMT calls on Mayor to scrap TfL’s ‘cash for cuts’ executive bonus scheme for attacking keyworkers jobs, pay and pensions
TUBE UNION RMT has written to London Mayor Sadiq Khan calling on him to scrap Transport for London’s £12 million executive bonus scheme which will see senior staff rewarded for their success in delivering the government’s attack on heroic keyworkers’ pay, jobs and pensions.
Denouncing the scheme as ‘disgusting’ and ‘nothing more than cash for cuts’, RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:

I refer to my previous email of 17th September 2021, please find the following link in respect of the TfL Pension Fund and while this union believes that we must fully protect our members past and future occupational retirement benefits.

The government, TfL and London Underground consider EVERYTHING that makes our job bearable and worthwhile as up for grabs. Pensions, job security, pay rises and your framework agreements are all threatened... If we don’t stop them!
Last year we were heroes, now we’re just a cost
on an accountant’s balance sheet. Management are going to try and con us into believing that if we cooperate with attacks on jobs, pay, pensions and conditions they will be in a better position to negotiate with the government for funding.
ROP & COS 2021 - TRANSPORT FOR LONDON (TFL/0001/TFL)
Correspondence has been received from TfL which sets out the terms of the funding deal the Company have made with the Government in the Extraordinary Funding and Financing Agreement on 1st June 2021. As part of this agreement TfL have with the government the Company have committed to implementing a pay freeze during the life of the deal except where previous multi-year awards have been collectively agreed with the relevant trade unions.
