RMT response to Victoria station staff incident yesterday ( Tuesday 10th April ) where a member of staff was pushed onto the track

Tube union RMT has reacted with shock and horror to yesterday's incident at Victoria station where a member of staff was pushed onto the track.

The union says that tube staff play a vital role in moving London around and are the unsung hero’s of the capital and that no corners should be cut when it comes to safety.

RMT raises serious concerns with Minister over spike in racist abuse of staff in wake of headlines about terror cells on London Transport

Tube union RMT has today written to the Minister of State for Security, Ben Wallace, after Government comments about the possibility of terrorists embedding themselves within London Transport were turned into front page headlines last week, leading to a spike of racist abuse and threats against staff on London Underground over the weekend.
 
In the letter, RMT General Secretary Mick Cash, says:
 

DLR union RMT confirmed today that it has served notice on Keolis Amey Docklands for the next phase of strike action in a dispute over outsourcing, abuse of procedures and workplace justice.

All KAD members have been instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

04:00 hours on Friday 20th April 2018 and 03:59 hours on Tuesday 24th April 2018

Following a magnificent ballot result returned by RMT members this week the union’s National Executive Committee has considered the matter and taken the decision to call on all staff to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

•  04:00 hours on Wednesday 21st March 2018 and 03:59 hours on Friday 23rd March 2018
• 04:00 hours on Friday 20th April 2018 and 03:59 hours on Tuesday 24th April 2018

The breakdown in Industrial Relations is over a whole catalogue of workplace issues which are listed below.

General Secretary Mick Cash said:

“RMT has always supported action that puts the safety of both the travelling public and the transport workforce first. The union pays tribute to the rail staff out there at the sharp end working round the clock to keep passengers safe in difficult conditions.”

“However, the current situation once again places centre stage the austerity cuts environment that confronts Network Rail and the penny-pinching and failure to plan for additional pressures which is a hallmark of the privatised train companies.

MPs call on London Mayor to end exploitation of Tube cleaners as RMT says treatment of workers “shames the capital.”

TUBE UNION RMT has welcomed a motion tabled in Parliament today by MPs calling on Transport for London, which is chaired by the London Mayor, to end the exploitation of Underground cleaners.

The MPs intervention came as RMT cleaners are due to demonstrate outside City Hall later today and RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said in an open letter to the London Mayor that the “continuation of such low workplace standards and conditions shame the capital.”

Strike action goes ahead on DLR this week in dispute over breakdown in industrial relations.
