RMT votes not to affiliate to Labour Party

RMT Special General Meeting agrees to align union towards Labour and encourage its members to be active in the party whilst remaining unaffiliated

Following a consultation with union Branches and Regional Councils a Special General Meeting (SGM) of the RMT has today agreed to a recommendation from the unions National Executive committee to align the RMT towards the Labour Party and encourage its 80,000 plus members to be active in the Labour Party, whilst remaining unaffiliated.

RMT confirms two 24 hours strikes on Jubilee line over imposed new timetable and ripping up of roster agreements

TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that drivers on the Jubilee Line will be taking two days of strike action in June over the imposition of new timetables that ride roughshod over current rostering agreements.

After an overwhelming vote for action driver members will strike for 24 hours on the 6th and 14th June.

TUBE UNION RMT today called on London Underground to end the culture of picking on staff and misusing procedures after the company lost an important employment tribunal case, costing the taxpayer a six figure sum in the process.
The driver in question was re-instated by LU yesterday at a resolution meeting with the Employment Tribunal Judge and London Underground management.

Mick Cash to speak at May Day rally

RMT'S Mick Cash to tell May Day rally it's no longer a question of if our railways are renationalised, it's a question of when.

In a May Day message today RMT General Secretary Mick Cash says that the tide in favour of public ownership of our railways and our public services has now shifted irreversibly and that it is only a matter of time before the exploitation and greed of privatisation is swept away.

Mick Cash, who will be speaking at the May Day rally at Trafalgar Square in London today, said:

DLR strike suspended as 'significant progress' made

RMT suspends strike action on Docklands Light Railway after significant progress in ACAS talks with the company.

RAIL UNION RMT has confirmed that scheduled strike action on Keolis Amey Docklands, due to start tomorrow and stretch across the weekend, has been suspended after significant progress has been made in talks with the company hosted by ACAS. The union remains in dispute.

Tube union RMT has today written to the Minister of State for Security, Ben Wallace, after Government comments about the possibility of terrorists embedding themselves within London Transport were turned into front page headlines last week, leading to a spike of racist abuse and threats against staff on London Underground over the weekend.

04:00 hours on Friday 20th April 2018 and 03:59 hours on Tuesday 24th April 2018
