Massive vote for strike action in train prep ballot

TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that over a thousand key London Underground maintenance and engineering staff have voted by around nine to one for both strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over the hacking back of train preparation and inspection schedules which the union warns would have a devastating impact on both service reliability and public safety.
The staff work at tube fleet maintenance depots right across Greater London.
Tube union campaigns for dramatic improvement to Tube air quality

A dossier of issues raised by tube staff includes:
- A number of members suffering with respiratory problems.
- Station staff and drivers having high incidents of chest colds.
- Notable levels of dirt when washing hands and face during or after a shift.

TUBE UNION RMT today warned of a thousand cleaning job losses on London Underground and announced that it will be lobbying Parliament on the 29th of January in support of decent jobs, on decent pay and conditions provided in house and with the cuts axe lifted from above the heads of the cleaning workforce.
In 2017 London Underground again outsourced Tube cleaning; this time on a five year contract to Global Corporation ABM.
