ACAS talks aimed at resolving tube Olympics recognition and reward collapse with LUL demanding even more strings

TUBE UNION RMT said today that five days of talks at conciliation service ACAS aimed at resolving the dispute over Olympics recognition and reward for all London Underground staff have broken down after LUL attempted to impose even more strings.

RMT to Include Sexual Orientation Option on Membership Form

Council of Executives decision:

We instruct the General Secretary to make the following amendments to the draft membership form.

  1. Number the new section ‘Sexual Orientation’ ‘5’, and renumber subsequent sections 5 and 6 as 6 and 7 respectively.
  2. Replace the sentence ‘If you wish for the RMT to contact you with information about union LGBT activities, then please tick here’ with ‘If you wish RMT to contact you with information about union activities for lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender members, please tick here’

RMT Warns Of Social Breakdown And Further Riots As Government Plans Budget Cuts To Top Tax While Hammering Public Services

TRANSPORT UNION RMT today warned of social breakdown and further riots as the ConDem coalition Government of public school-educated millionaires prepares to widen the gap between rich and poor by handing out tax cuts to the rich while hammering jobs, wages and services in the country’s public sector.

RMT Rejects London Underground Olympics Offer

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that a well-attended meeting of our London Underground representatives unanimously recommended rejection of London Underground’s Olympics offer, taking the firm view that any offer should be for all grades and that there should not be any changes to the rules governing working conditions set out in the Framework Agreements. We therefore reject London Underground’s offer.
