'Mayors Questions' Response On London Living Wage For DLR Carlisle Cleaners

London's mayor Boris Johnson answers questions from the London Assembly Members each month at 'Mayor's Questions.' Andrew Dismore - Labour Assembly Member for Barnet and Camden asked the question "Why are cleaners employed by Carlisle, contracted by TfL's franchisee Serco to provide cleaning services on Docklands Light Railway, not paid the London Living Wage?" on october 17th.

Workers United Against Racism

The London Olympics was a resounding success thanks to the role of different sections of workers who delivered the Games.

London Underground staff worked around the clock to provide an excellent service for the million extra passengers a day. People from all over the world, able bodied and disabled, expressed their delight that stations were staffed by knowledgeable staff. Behind the scenes our engineers and service controllers kept the service running like clockwork while our drivers delivered passengers swiftly and safely to their destinations.

As a new batch of surplus/loss letters have just gone out I am re-circulating the attached pro-forma memo for you to use in response to any letter you receive.
If you know a discrepancy has arisen because of machine failure or similar then write your own memo giving this information. If you do not know why a discrepancy has occurred I suggest you use the attached.

The day marked an opportunity for reps to meet, network and form working relationships and to be briefed on the processes for the recently agreed Education and Learning Conference that will begin in 2013.

Pentonville Five Liberation Anniversary Meeting

London Undergrounds Engineering Branch invite you to to the 40th anniversary meeting to celebrate the liberation of the Pentonville five, a landmark victory in the history of our movement.

LGBT History Month Pre Launch

LGBT History month takes place each February. This pre launch event may be of interest to RMT members, family and friends.

A whole day celebrating the life of Alan Turing and investigating the role of maths, science and engineering
in the past, the present and the future.

OBJECTIVES

  • To raise the profile of Alan Turing
  • To raise the profile of LGBT people in science, maths and engineering
  • To increase the profile of LGBT people in education

The morning will have educational and LGBT related activities for schools.

RMT Black And Ethnic Minority Group Create Marcus Garvey Commemorative Brochure

100 years ago, renowned activist, leader & teacher Marcus Garvey, visited the UK for the first of many visits.

To commemorate the remarkable occasion and in time to participate with October's 'Black History month' celebrations, RMT BEM have helped commission a brochure, detailing the background and achievements of this legendary character's life.

Service Control Grades Committee Meeting

The Service Control Grades Committee will next meet on: 25th October 2012 between 13.00 and 15.00.
It will be followed by the Regional Council.
