RMT Executive decisions

Decisions of RMT's Council of Executives, and of RMT's General Grades Committee (the section of the Council of Executives which deals with industrial matters for railway and other non-shipping grades)

ISS Increases London Living Wage 6 Months Late

We note that a meeting is to take place with ISS on 18 April and instruct the General Secretary to place a report of this meeting in front of us.

We further note that ISS intends to only pay the uprated level of the London Living Wage six months after the uprating is announced, and claims that this is allowed for in its contract. We are appalled by this, which means in practice that our members are expected to live on less than a living wage for 50% of their lives.

For full details all RMT members are invited to come to the meeting.

London Underground 'Business Update' Meetings

We note the report and materials from the ‘Business Update’ meeting with the Managing Director of London Underground Ltd.

We also note that our agreed machinery of negotiation with LUL includes in paragraph 5 the provision that ‘a London Underground Briefing Forum will meet as and when appropriate to provide a forum for consultation on strategic issues relating to the performance, plans and objectives of London Underground’.

Jubilee Line Strike Suspended Following Progress At ACAS Talks

We note the report from our lead officer, and welcome the progress made at ACAS talks.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to suspend our strike action beginning at 00:01 on Tuesday 2 April.

A report is to be placed in front of us as to whether the dispute is fully resolved within time to allow strike action to be called should it not be resolved.

ISS Annual Leave Purchase Plan Would Leave Some Workers Earning Less than Minimum Wage

We note the report from our lead officer, that ISS has still not responded to our request for a meeting to discuss this issue. We instruct the General Secretary to pursue this, and should such a meeting not have been scheduled within 14 days, to place this matter back in front of us.

Jubilee Line Ballot Results

That we note the ballot result is as follows:-

Total votes cast ....14...............

Number voting “Yes” ....12...............

Number voting “No” ....2................

Spoilt Papers ....0................

We congratulate our members on their determination to challenge the problems at North Greenwich and Stratford depots. Noting the strike action called by ASLEF, we instruct our members to take strike action by not booking on for duties commencing between:
• 00:01 and 23:59 on 2nd April 2013
• 00:01 and 23:59 on 2nd May 2013

RMT Protest Against Staff Cuts At London Transport Museum

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and the documentation on file.

This union completely rejects the proposal to reduce staffing at the London Transport Museum by six full-time-equivalent posts. We reiterate our opposition to all moves to cut jobs at this essential cultural and historical asset, whether the employer intends to achieve this through compulsory redundancy, voluntary severance or any other method.

RMT Calls For Urgent Discussion Over Missing Bonus Payment

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd attempting to justify the non-payment of the end-of-year £100 CSS bonus to staff. None of the documentation provided by the company shows this union agreeing to, or even being advised of, this policy.

We instruct the General Secretary to table this for urgent discussion at LUL Company Council and to seek the support of the other LUL trade unions for the restoration of this £100 stolen from our members by their employer.

Plan To Block Transferred Workers From Pension Scheme Will Be Resisited

We note the report from our lead officer. While welcoming the reintegration of some Tube Lines staff into LUL and TfL, we are disappointed that some will remain in Tube Lines, and appalled that the companies plan not to allow transferring staff to join the TfL Pension Scheme.

This is an attack not just on these members’ rights but on the security of the pensions of all other staff.

We instruct the General Secretary to obtain a report on how we might progress our fight over this issue, and to place it in front of us within 14 days.
