Meeting Agenda

Mitie's Unacceptable Position Leads RMT To Ballot Members For Strike Action

We note the correspondence on file.

We regret that in recent talks, the employer did not change its unacceptable position at all, and accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to proceed with the ballot for strike action and action short of strikes as specified in our Decision Gww 26 February 2013. The ballot is to start immediately and conclude during the week commencing Monday 6 May.

TfL Abrogates Responsibility As Carlisle Refuses To Pay London Living Wage

We note the correspondence on file from Transport for London. We do not accept its abrogation of responsibility for Carlisle’s disgraceful refusal to pay the London Living Wage.

Transport for London (and other public bodies) must take responsibility for bodies in its chain of contracting. We further note the lack of response from Boris Johnson, and instruct the General Secretary to step up our public and political campaigning on this matter.

Tube Bosses Refuse To Uphold "No Compulsory Redundancies" Agreement

We note the report from our lead officer.

We deplore the stated intention of the employer to refuse to:

  • allow transferring staff to join the TfL Pension Scheme;
  • uphold the settlement of the 2001 PPP dispute which includes ‘no compulsory redundancies’ and explicitly applies to all employees and all future employers; and
  • recognise RMT in departments into which our members are transferring

In accordance with the request of our lead officer, we instruct the General Secretary to obtain legal advice on these matters, to uphold the rights of our members.

Sub Surface Lines Tube Drivers To Be Balloted For Industrial Action

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and the correspondence from our Hammersmith and City branch and our LUL Trains Council representatives.

We note that there are several serious problems concerning the introduction of the S Stock, itemised in previous GGC decisions and including inadequate preparation time and cross-line working. We reaffirm our stance that the introduction of new stock must not be a pretext for attacks on safety standards or working conditions.

RMT Seeks Members View On jubilee Dispute Offer

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd outlining its proposed settlement of this dispute, and instruct the General Secretary to obtain and place in front of us a report as to whether this represents a satisfactory outcome for our members.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised. Jubilee South branch to be advised by personal letter.

Protection For Occupational Health Staff

We note the correspondence from Transport for London, refusing our request for an independent review of the situation at Occupational Health. We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this matter is pursued fully through the machinery of negotiation and should this prove fruitless, to refer it to ACAS.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

Piccadilly Line Drivers Balloted As 'Management Are Riding Roughshod Over Agreements'

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and the resolution from our Finsbury Park branch.

We note that it is the unanimously-held view of our drivers' representatives and branch officers on the Piccadilly line that the union should ballot Piccadilly line drivers for strike action without delay.

Our representatives believe that the line's management are riding roughshod over agreements and for some time appear to have been deliberately misinterpreting policy on SPADs, holistic reports and attendance, particularly at Arnos Grove.
