TRAIN OPERATOR RECRUITMENT & ALLOCATION TO DEPOTS (2009 AGREEMENT) - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/5)
Currently, our trains are “prepped” (i.e., have basic safety checks performed) every 24 hours. LU now wants to extend that schedule to every 96 hours, or even more.
On some lines their proposals suggest that trains will only be fully prepped every 82 days.
Subject: DUTIES / SHIFT COVERAGE – LONDON UNDERGROUND
That we note the report from the Lead Officer regarding the outcome of the reps meeting this week; and agree that the company’s understaffing of stations is a
welfare, employment and safety matter across the tube combine affecting the travelling public and our members alike; and as such needs to be dealt with across
the combine.
We therefore instruct the General Secretary to prepare a ballot matrix of our entire stations’ membership for industrial action.

That we note the resolution from London Transport Regional Council relating to the London Underground 2009 Agreement RMT was not party to on train operator headcount; and the detrimental effect it is increasingly having on our members in terms of their ability to take leave, family friendly & flexible arrangements, medically necessary reasonable adjustments, Training, secondments, career development, representation at management meetings including disciplinaries.

We congratulate our members on the increased re-ballot turnout and magnificent yes vote which clearly demonstrates once again their deep concerns over the imposition of this unsafe practice.
We note that the ballot result for action short of strike is as follows:-
Number of members balloted: 68
Total votes cast 57 (83.8%)
Number voting “Yes” 57 (100%)
Number voting “No” 0
Dear Colleagues,
RMT Secures 550 Jobs
I am pleased to announce that RMT have secured 550 cleaner jobs on ABM the chosen London Underground cleaning contract supplier.
This is an important victory in the fight for jobs and workplace justice for London Underground cleaners as the TFL contractors ABM were forced by a sustained campaign of union pressure to reinstate 550 posts into their headcount.
RMT warns of loss of 1000 cleaning jobs on London Underground and confirms lobby of Parliament
TUBE UNION RMT today warned of a thousand cleaning job losses on London Underground and announced that it will be lobbying Parliament on the 29th of January in support of decent jobs, on decent pay and conditions provided in house and with the cuts axe lifted from above the heads of the cleaning workforce.
In 2017 London Underground again outsourced Tube cleaning; this time on a five year contract to Global Corporation ABM.
DUTIES/SHIFT COVERAGE, BAKERLOO SOUTH GROUP - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/5)
Further to my previous Circular (IR/561/18, 21st December 2018), the Company has now confirmed that a meeting regarding the review of the Business Needs Schematics will take place with our RMT Reps within the next two weeks and will include all stations within the Bakerloo South Cover Group. A timescale for future meetings will be arranged at this initial meeting.
Subject: DUTIES/SHIFT COVERAGE, DISTRICT CENTRE GROUP – LONDON UNDERGROUND
That we note the resolution from our Piccadilly and District West Branch; that the stresses and strains put on members in the District Centre Cover Group caused
by a lack of staff leading to shifts being left uncovered.

RMT Parliamentary rally and demonstration
TUESDAY 29th JANUARY 2019
London Underground cleaners have been invited to come to the Houses of Parliament on Tuesday 29th January to meet with some MPs. The MPs want to hear from cleaners about their issues. The best people to talk to the MPs are the cleaners themselves.
