DISMISSAL, P. BAILEY - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/463/18, 26th October 2018), the following two resolutions have been received from Central Line East Branch:-

“Following the outstanding show of solidarity on our last action on Nov 7th. The Central Line East Branch calls upon the NEC to name new strike action dates for Train Operators on both our industrial relations dispute and our Paul Bailey reinstatement dispute on the Central Line. We wish to strike as follows.

All duties booking on between 20:00 hours on 21st Dec and 02:00 hours on 22nd Dec. And all duties booking on between 04:00 hours and 20:00 hours on 22nd Dec”.

“Following great support and concern from around the combine and a rock solid action already been taken by Central Line Train Operators, the Central Line East Branch calls upon the LTRC and the NEC to expand Paul Bailey dispute into a LUL combine wide effort. The next step being a ballot of all Train Operators on all lines without delay”.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee, which applauds our members resolve to continue fighting the scandalous sacking of Bro. Bailey for NOT failing a drugs and alcohol test which even the company have now reluctantly admitted is concerning so much so that they are to be undertaking a review of the relevant processes and procedures.

The only rational and just course of action is the reinstatement of Bro. Paul Bailey and our members will not sit back and allow this injustice to continue but are demanding further strike action on the Central Line and a combine wide Train Operators ballot following numerous demands from other branches across the tube combine.

The NEC has taken the decision to call on all Central Line Train Operators, Night Tube Train Operators and Instructor Operators to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

• 20:00 hours on Friday 21st December and 02:00 hours on Saturday 22nd December 2018
• 04:00 hours and 20:00 hours on Saturday 22nd December 2018

Also, to arrange an urgent meeting of all LUL Train Operator Industrial Reps with the NEC, Lead Officer and Senior Assistant General Secretary in attendance. I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
