RMT available for ACAS talks, as union decides to ballot over Tube pay offer

24th June 2019

Dear Colleagues,

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 - LONDON UNDERGROUND

Further to previous correspondence regarding the above, the National Executive Committee has considered this matter and noted the Company's latest offer is as follows:-

  • An RPI (February 2019 figure) + 0.1% increase from 1st April 2019
  • An RPI (February 2020 figure) + 0.2% increase from 1st April 2020

The Company continues to disregard important aspects of our pay claim including a flat-rate increase for low paid members, a shorter working week and other improvements. The stand-alone pay offer fails to meet members' aspirations and the Company has not confirmed any offer at all for ex-Tube Lines members.

The NEC has therefore taken the decision to advise the Company that we are in dispute over this issue and ballot all London Underground members for strike action and action short of a strike. I have advised the Company accordingly and also that we are available for talks at ACAS to try to reach a resolution.

While preparations for the ballot are ongoing, I would ask that all members check their membership records are correct. If your job title, home address or workplace has recently changed, please contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT switchboard on 0207 387 4771 and ask to speak to the Industrial Relations Department. Alternatively, you can e-mail your change of membership details to info@rmt.org.uk.

I will keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
