RMT Rebuts 'Perverse Misinterpretation' Of Olympic Deal By London Underground

"We will not accept London Underground reneging on our agreement nor any other organisation"

We note the correspondence from London Underground, which poses a perverse misinterpretation of the agreement we reached at ACAS, and which has been circulated widely to LU train drivers by ASLEF. We instruct the General Secretary to reply to this letter, giving a detailed rebuttal of its contents, and to circularise this reply to our representatives.

We note the General Secretary’s efforts to arrange an immediate return to ACAS to enforce our agreement.

Service Control Dispute Meeting To Discuss Options Following Ballot For Industrial Action

Due to the current dispute and the ballot results coming back with a resounding yes we are holding an emergency meeting to discuss what you want management to concede to settle this dispute.

What future protection, guarantees and job options do you want agreed from LU?

Also we need you to decide what industrial action you as the member think is suitable to take if this doesn't happen as the ballot has now given us the legal grounding to do so.

Bakerloo Driver Victimization Case Resolved

We note the report from our Bakerloo Line branch secretary, advising that this matter has now been resolved to the satisfaction of Brother Protheroe and his representatives.

We thank the branch for its prompt and effective actions on this case, and agree with the branch secretary that without a strong trade union position on this matter, LU may have reverted to type with their previous policies of victimising RMT reps and activists.

RMT Reiterates Concerns As LU Plan To Use Minimally Trained Staff To keep Stations Open During The Olympics

We instruct the General Secretary to make preparation for a ballot for industrial action short of strikes

We note that London Underground intends to count ‘Incident Customer Service Assistants’ towards minimum numbers for station staffing, despite the fact that these are not station staff and have minimal training. This union reaffirms our opposition to this, and notes that we are already in dispute with LUL about this matter, which has been referred to ACAS.

RMT To Ballot South West Trains Staff For Action As Company Reneges On Olympics Arrangements

At the same time as the RMT calls for London Underground to return to ACAS regarding the recent dispute over the union's interpretation of the 'Olympic agreement', South West Train members are heading toward Industrial action as bosses there renege on Olympic agreements.

RMT to ballot South West Trains staff

RAIL UNION RMT announced today that is to ballot staff on South West Trains for industrial action after the company reneged on Olympics agreements linked to this year’s pay settlement and attempted to impose a new regime that would force staff to work longer hours on extended services for nothing in return for the entire duration of the games.

MISTREATMENT OF SERVICE CONTROL STAFF – LONDON UNDERGROUND

Further to your letter dated 31st May 2012, please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you. We have been preparing a detailed response which is outlined below.

As advised yesterday my Service Control members voted overwhelmingly for strike action and action short of industrial action. Despite the contents of much of your letter, I must advise you that we still have a substantial number of concerns and we believe service control staff and our representatives continue to be mistreated by LUL. I shall answer each of the points on which we remain in dispute below: -

Tube Workers Vote For Action In Service Control Dispute

TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that key service control centre staff have voted overwhelmingly for strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over jobs and conditions of service.

Proposals by London Underground regarding the move of Piccadilly Line Service Control to Hammersmith Service Control Centre have raised a range of union concerns that the management refuse to address:

  • The Wholesale job losses arising from the move to Hammersmith Service Control Centre
  • The Non-payment of the Service Operator 3 rate of pay

RMT Reaches Olympic Deal With London Underground Which Defends Workplace Agreements

From General Secretary Bob Crow I am writing to advise members that following further talks at ACAS, a final proposal was tabled over Olympic Recognition and Reward for London Underground members. A meeting took place with 150 of your representatives at the end of last week to consult on this offer and the General Grades Committee has decided the following:

“We note the overwhelming view of our representatives expressed at the meeting on Friday 25 May, and accordingly instruct the General Secretary to advise London Underground of our acceptance of the revised proposal. We note that as a result, our members will receive up to £1000 for Olympics working, none of which is dependent on changes to or breaches of agreements."
