FURLOUGH ARRANGEMENTS - CORONAVIRUS - ABM (LUL/TFL CONTRACT) (LUL/14/3)
Dear colleague
PROVISION OF FREE TRAVEL FOR CLEANERS DURING COVID-19 - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/12/2)
I advised you in a previous circular that your National Executive Committee had instructed me to write to London Mayor Sadiq Khan following TfL’s rejection of your union’s demands to provide free travel for cleaners during the Covid-19 crisis (Ref: IR/159/20, 1st May 2020).
RMT says new Transport for London Commissioner must give Underground cleaners the same free travel pass he is entitled to
On the day that new Transport for London Commissioner Andy Byford starts work [Monday 29 June], RMT called on him to put a stop to a shameful injustice by giving London’s heroic Underground cleaners the same TfL travel pass that he and the Mayor are entitled to.
TUBE UNION RMT has today called on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to personally meet, via video conferencing, a delegation of tube cleaners to discuss their employment concerns as a new survey shows a majority of cleaners believe their employer, cleaning contractor ABM, is putting profit before safety during coronavirus crisis.
Jubilee South Branch News is the newsletter for Tube workers on trains and stations as well as cleaners and canteen workers from Westminster to Stratford.

Buses are now free to all, all RCIs are deemed unnecessary and furloughed...But Cleaners on the tube still have to pay to get to work.
That’s the message from TFL/LUL management. When we challenged them at the MDs weekly conference call we were told it was a tough choice but unaffordable. The letter from TFL/LUL can be downloaded below.
RMT cannot think of much that is more important right now than the heroic role of our cleaners.
They are doing the most valuable and dangerous work of all on the tube network during this pandemic.
TUBE UNION RMT today blasted as disgraceful and disgusting a decision by Transport for London to deny tube cleaners, who have put themselves on the line throughout the Coronavirus crisis to keep essential workers moving, the basic right to free travel.

To all ABM Cleaner Members
Dear Colleagues
I am sure that I don’t need to point out the difficulties we are all facing at this extraordinary time. But like many key workers, the efforts you are making are highly valued by the whole community of London.
At the same time your Union RMT and its ABM representatives are going flat out to continue looking after you interests. Should you need to contact one of them, their names and numbers now follow:
