RMT LGBT demonstration: Solidarity with Ugandan LGBT people! Stop the "Kill The Gays" bill!


The Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality “Kill the Gays” Bill has been placed on the schedule of Parliament - meaning it will be on business of the day any time from now.

The Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law in Uganda has called for protest actions across the World.

RMT Protest At Russian Embassy Against Attacks On LGBT Rights

The RMT held a protest outside the Russian Federation Embassy in Kensington to voice our disgust at the governments attacks on gay rights and to voice our support for LGBT people in the country.

RMT's activists organised leafleting and a demo at the embassy on Tuesday. As the building is in a private road we were ushered to a site prepared by the police who were ready for with barriers in place.

RMT To Protest Outside Russian Embassy Over Violation Of LGBT Rights

On Tuesday 20th November 2012, RMT activists plan to stage a demonstration outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation, in protest at the violation of the rights of LGBT Russians.
We will meet-up at Notting Hill Gate Tube Station at 2:30pm and walk together to the Russian Embassy in Kensington Palace Gardens where we will stage our demo and deliver the RMT protest letter below.

Urgent Action Needed As Ukraine Pushes Through Anti Gay Bill

The Ukrainian parliament could give final approval as soon as next week to an anti-gay law (8711) that aims to make LGBT people invisible. As the anti-gay lawmakers pushing this bill planned, there is little time for International rights activists to counter and take action to stop the bill.

We must act fast.

RMTv: Brussels Demonstration -Nationalisation Not Privatisation

Transport workers marched in Brussels on the first anniversary of the European Commission's Transport White Paper, which orders states to surrender transport networks to corporate interests.

The demonstration was attended by London Transport Regional Council members including Young Members.

UN Secretary General Says 'Time Has Come' To End Violence And Discrimination Against LGBT People

Earlier this month UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon told delegates of a Human Rights Council meeting that the time has come to end violence and discrimination against LGBT people around the world.

All Out, who campaign around the world for LGBT freedoms have made a remix video of the speech.

Moon said "We see a pattern of violence and discrimination directed at people just because they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender. People have been imprisoned, tortured, even killed."

Resolution to TUC Women's Conference - Women's Rights in Afghanistan

RMT's Council of Executives has agreed to submit the following resolution to TUC Women's Conference 2012:

With the announcement that peace talks with the Taliban are contemplated, women’s rights have apparently been forgotten. The treatment of women by the Taliban government was a contravention of their human rights.
