RMT Joins Forces With Web Campaigners Labour Start In “cyber Picket” Of Boris Johnson In Fight For Olympics Cleaners Pay Justice

Transport union RMT said today that it has joined forces with web campaigners and union resource Labour Start to launch a global “cyber picket” of London Mayor Boris Johnson in the fight for Olympics pay justice for tube cleaners working for ISS and Initial.

The cleaners began a 48 hours strike at 05:30 hours on Thursday 9th August 2012 and the action runs until 05:29 hours on Saturday 11th August 2012.

Pickets were out in force at Stratford and other London locations yesterday and there will be another protest at Stratford at twelve noon today.

Tube Cleaners Strike Picket Lines

London Transport Cleaners, working on the tube for ISS and Initial will be on strike again between 05:30 hours on Thursday 9th August 2012 and 05:29 hours on Saturday 11th August 2012.

We can support them in their fight for a London Living Wage by joining picket lines in the morning and evening.

This second strike follows the previous rock solid action on the opening weekend of the Olympics for fair pay and Olympics recognition and reward.

Tube Cleaners To Strike Again In Fight For Fairness On Olympics Payments And Pay Justice

Transport union RMT said today that tube cleaners working for Initial and ISS will strike again this week in their fight for fair pay and Olympics recognition and reward.

Following rock-solid action around the opening weekend of the Games members are now instructed not to book on for any shifts that commence between:-

05:30 hours on Thursday 9th August 2012 and 05:29 hours on Saturday 11th August 2012.

RMT and London Underground have an agreement regarding Olympics working. We are committed to sticking to this agreement, but have had reason to be concerned that management may not do so. We have therefore taken the step of calling 'action short of strikes' in the form of an instruction not to work outside your job description.

RMT To Ballot Heathrow Express Contractors For Industrial Action Over Pay

RAIL UNION RMT confirmed today that it is preparing to ballot cleaning, facilities and asset management and mechanical engineering staff on Heathrow Express for both strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over pay.

The staff are employed by contractors Amey Rail, BAA, who own Heathrow Express and Amey, are all part of Ferrovial.

DLR And Tube Cleaners Solid In Support Of Strike Action In Fight For Fairness On Olympics Payments

Transport union RMT said today that DLR and tube cleaners working for Initial, ISS and Carlisle are rock solid in their support for strikes that started this morning for fair pay and Olympics recognition and reward.

RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said;

"On the opening day of the Games the many millions enjoying the events around the globe must not forget the London transport cleaners on minimum pay rates doing some of the dirtiest jobs in often appalling conditions with no Olympics recognition and reward whatsoever.

The Agency Workers Regulations And The Swedish Derogation

According to the TUC, the Swedish Derogation is: “an option written into the EU Temporary Agency Work Directive that allows member States to insert a provision into their transposing legislation that says that where an agency worker is directly employed by an agency they are not protected by the equal treatment provisions in the Directive. The UK Regulations, which come into force in October, make use of the “Swedish” derogation.

RMT Secures £680 Olympics Payment, Pay Increases And Harmonisation Upgrades For Rail Signalling Contractors

PLANNED INDUSTRIAL action at signalling technology contractor Thales has been halted as a result of a massive breakthrough on pay, harmonisation and Olympics payments secured by RMT negotiators on the back of a 95% vote for action amongst the members.

Following the overwhelming mandate for strike action RMT has now secured agreements covering harmonisation, pay, shift allowances and Olympics payments of up to £680.

You and your colleagues are all congratulated for returning a very strong YES vote for industrial action and proving your determination to fight for better pay and conditions. Management must also be clear on the fact that they cannot just ignore the impact the Olympics games will have on your working life.
