TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that it has begun balloting service control centre and Ticket/ Gate line Maintenance engineers staff for strike action and action short of a strike in two separate disputes over jobs, pay and conditions of service.

Proposals by London Underground regarding the move of Piccadilly Line Service Control to Hammersmith Service Control Centre have raised a range of union concerns that the management refuse to address

Meeting at Maritime House- Clapham Common (SW4 OJW) at 11am on Wednesday the 20th of June where over a spot of a cuppa and some lunch we plan to discuss the issues which matter to you.

Come along and decide the events which are planned and events we should be planning.

All work, no play and all that lark means that once we’re done we’ll head out probably to a Cuban bar ending back at the Cuban Garden Party at Maritime house.

RMTv: Action For Railways Campaign Launch

On May 28, 2012 the rail unions - RMT, Aslef, TSSA and Unite - launched the Action for Rail campaign by leafleting train stations nationwide. RMTv caught the launch event at Euston station.

Action for rail was set up to campaign against the McNulty report which recommends massive cuts to the railways which could mean the loss of over 20,000 jobs.

Ballot Papers For Service Control Industrial Action Sent Out Today

You will be aware of the current proposals by London Underground regarding the move of Piccadilly Line Service Control to Hammersmith Service Control Centre. However we still have a substantial number of concerns over this process and believe service control staff and our representatives are being mistreated.

Our main areas of concern are as follows:

  • The Wholesale job losses arising from the move to Hammersmith Service Control Centre
  • The Non-payment of the Service Operator 3 rate of pay

RMT narrowly loses vote for position of TFC staff side chair

With the upcoming retirement of TFC staff side chair, Dave Feldwick elections were held to fill the vacancy of the staff side chair. In a close fought contest, RMT nominated rep, Brian Munro narrowly lost the vote to be staff side chair by 1 vote.

As the RMT made the case for closer cooperation on the TFC, ASLEF members on the Council came close to splitting off and nominating Bro Munro.

Aslef rep Graham Dean was elected.

The RMT staff side wish Dave a long and happy retirement.

RMT Cuba Solidarity Campaign 10th Garden Party

The 10th RMT annual garden party for Cuba, in association with the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, will take place on Wednesday 20th June 2012 at Maritime House, Clapham, London, commencing 7.00pm;

Tickets are £15 each and this includes a free bar, buffet and music. As usual we will be joined by a number of distinguished guest speakers.

The garden party will provide a wonderful opportunity to show solidarity with Cuba with friends from across the Labour and Trade Union movement.
