City Link Workers To Strike For A Week Over Pay Cuts Of Up To £4000

This industrial action has been called off

Transport union RMT announced today that hundreds of staff working for City Link will be taking seven days of strike action in a dispute over pay, working conditions and an attempt by the company management to bulldoze through changes to contracts.

The workforce will strike for seven days from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 24th September to 12.59 hours on Monday 30th September 2013.

Elected Young Members 2013

please see attached poster related to your 2013 elected young member representatives from the London transport region for your information and distribution.

Young members (members under 30 years old) visited their local branch and were voted for their names to be put forward.

Each region has their own young member representatives and together they make up the young members national advisory committee, who meet officially 3 times a year as well as organise a number of interesting activities throughout the year.

Bombardier Pay And Conditions Talks Update

We note the report from our Regional Organiser. While we welcome the move from individual contracts to collective bargaining of pay and conditions for Train Service Technicians, the current offer is not acceptable to us because:
- for some members, this represents a below-inflation pay rise
- it removes the enhanced rate of pay for overtime
- it allocates annual leave in hours rather than days, which will result in a loss of leave

We therefore instruct our Regional Organiser to pursue this matter through the appropriate procedure, to secure an acceptable offer.

RMT Proposal For Boxing Day Working Improvements Rejected

We note that ASLEF has resolved its dispute with London Underground Ltd, reaching a settlement that drivers who work on Boxing Day will receive a £350 payment and that this is financed through amendments to the Train Operators Resourcing Agreement (TOPRA). These amendments cause some detriment to drivers, particularly newer drivers, who may find themselves unable to move to the depot of their choice for a longer period of time. RMT is not party to this agreement, and does not accept that working conditions should be sold in this way.

RMT Seeks Urgent Meeting As Doubleplay Take Over Tube Advertising Contract

We note the correspondence and instruct the Regional Organiser to seek an urgent meeting with Doubleplay LU Ltd to confirm our members' situation and seek improvements to their pay and conditions.

We further instruct the General Secretary to obtain and place in front of us briefing notes on Platinum Equity and Doubleplay LU Ltd; and a timeline of ownership of this contract since advertisement posting was privatised.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

RMT Push For Increased Representation At TfL

We note the correspondence from Transport for London and that talks on thismatter are ongoing. We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that RMT continues to press for increased representation in this company, and to place reports and developments in front of us.

Further, an article on RMT's efforts to secure increase representation is to be included in our TfL members' newsletter.

Mobile Station Supervision A 'Red Line Issue' For RMT

We note that London Underground Ltd has advertised (internally) posts for mobile Station Supervisors covering several stations. We further note that we referred this issue to ACAS several months ago, and that LUL has finally agreed to hold discussions at ACAS, and to not fill these positions until these talks are concluded.

This is a 'red line' issue for this union; we oppose mobile station supervision and insist that every London Underground station must have a

RMT Builds Support For Brother Woods

We note the report from the Regional Organiser, and that he has allocated a second-stage representative to this case in support of Brother Woods' local representative. An updated report is to be placed in front of us within 14 days. If this matter is not resolved to our satisfaction at this point, we consider enacting the branch's request for a ballot for industrial action.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

Back Dated Pay Rises For Cleaners & Security Workers Still Short Of London Living Wage

We note the report from our Regional Organise. We note that the employer has confirmed a backdated pay increase of 3% for security staff and 5% for cleaners. We congratulate our members on winning this pay rise through our campaign of industrial action and persistent negotiation.

However, this increase still does not bring pay rates up to the London Living Wage. We instruct the Regional Organiser to continue to press for improvements in these members' pay and conditions.
