Message to all L1 RMT Reps: Problem Rosters

All,

Most L1 reps will have had my previous email on this subject but I have updated my list so a few of you will be getting this for the first time.

The issue of achieving better roster balance in terms of extreme shifts and weekend rest days was put at the centre of talks about additional jobs.

We now have a published proposal for 325 new jobs. This is testament to the work done by reps and members in delivering our stations strike in January. We must now ensure that the new jobs we’ve won are used to meet the demands of our members.

Branch motion raises concerns about removal of Tunnel Telephone wires

London Underground has announced plans to remove tunnel telephone wires despite the concerns of RMT members.

Following the announcement of the decision, several branches passed the following motion:

This branch is concerned to learn of London Underground's plans to remove all tunnel telephone wires from the tube network.

London Bridge 3 Victimisation Dispute

In light of the deplorable treatment of our three members including Brother Cornell’s dismissal after 19 years service via an utter miscarriage of justice, your union has taken the decision to escalate this dispute and ballot ALL Stations Grades and Revenue Control Inspector members for strike action and industrial action short of a strike.

London Bridge 3 picket line video

Reel News has interviewed the RMT's London Transport Regional Organiser John Leach and the National Executive Commitee officer Andy Littlechild on the succesful picket Line at London Bridge. RMT members at the station have been on strike following the sacking of Lee Cornell and disciplinary actions taken against two others who were defending themselves having been assaulted by a fare dodging passanger.

RMT concerned over fixed term contracts on Piccadilly Line

FIXED TERM CONTRACTS, WORKSHOP STAFF, PICCADILLY LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/13/2)

At a recent meeting with Tube Lines, the Company announced its intention to recruit 35 new staff to work in workshops on the Piccadilly Line on a 2 year fixed term contract. The work is necessary to enable 24-hour lifting of the trains to replace damaged wheels due to problems with rail head contamination (leaf fall) and wheel flats on the line.

Drivers could be balloted on Picc over training concerns

WITHDRAWAL OF TRAIN OPERATOR TRAINING, KINGS CROSS EAST-WEST REVERSING, PICCADILLY LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/10)

The following resolution was recently received from Piccadilly & District West Branch:-

“This Branch is amazed and astonished at the withdrawal of practical training of the very dangerous reversing move on the east bound platform at Kings Cross (reversing east to west), for Piccadilly Line Train Operators.
