Urgent meeting called to discuss Cockfosters concerns

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, COCKFOSTERS & ARNOS GROVE DEPOTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

A resolution was recently received from our Finsbury Park Branch and a report was received from the Lead Officer regarding a range of issues affecting Train Operator members at Cockfosters and Arnos Grove Traincrew Depots. The issues raised include the following:

· Breaches of the Attendance at Work Policy and particularly the application of section 5.2 on a number of levels, causing members stress and anxiety and concerns over their job security.

· The discipline at work policy is not being applied correctly with our members either being treated harshly or matters being unduly delayed with the effect of causing members undue stress or financial hardship.

· Inadequate training, including on the new 24 stock, with insufficient assurances given on training standards.

· Facilities are poor with unreliable or inadequate welfare provision including the lack of food provision at a number of depots and a previous commitment to provide a sandwich machine has not been honoured.

Despite attempts to resolve these issues, they remain outstanding and the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to write to LUL to seek an urgent meeting of the Trains Functional Council to address these matters. Should management refuse to convene this meeting, the NEC has instructed me to ballot all affected members for strike action.

I have written to the Company in line with the above and will keep Branches advised of all further developments. In the meantime, I would be grateful for all Branches to ensure that affected members details are correct on our records.
