What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

Tube Lines Pensions And Passes Dispute Talks Resume

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, the correspondence from our LU Engineering branch, and that talks resumed yesterday, 10 July.

We remain determined to win equality for our Tube Lines members in travel passes and pensions, and oppose any move to re-privatise Tube Lines.

We instruct the General Secretary to organise a meeting of our Tube Lines representatives and GGC members, within seven days of today, to receive an up-to-date report from talks and discuss our strategy going forward with this dispute, and to place a report of this meeting in front of the GGC at our meeting on 19 July. The GGC member for London Transport region is also to be notified of any other meetings of our Tube Lines representatives concerning this dispute.

We further instruct the General Secretary to place in front of us on 19 July a report on the deduction of pay from our London Underground members who raised safety concerns during our strike on Tube Lines in May, and the support that this union has provided to them.

London Transport Regional Council, branches and Tube Lines representatives to be advised.
