What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

RMT Vows To Fight Whitechapel Ticket Office Closure

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, advising that the closure of Whitechapel ticket office has been put back to July 2014 at the earliest. We note that this is only one year away, and resolve that our campaigning to stop this closure will continue.

We fully support the protest at Whitechapel station called by our East Ham branch for 08:00 on Monday 15 July. We instruct the General Secretary to send an email and text message to all members in London and the surrounding area encouraging them to attend this protest, and to seek press coverage. We further instruct the General Secretary to place in front of us a report on progress with the instructions in our previous decision on this matter.

We rename this file CLOSURE OF TICKET OFFICE, WHITECHAPEL STATION – LONDON UNDERGROUND.

London Transport Regional Council, branches and London Underground stations representatives to be advised. East Ham branch to be advised by personal letter.
