Circular No. IR. 380/09 dated 10th December 2009 from General Secretary Bob Crow
As you will be aware, the above ballot is well underway and is due to close on 21st December 2009.
It had been indicated in the information accompanying the ballot papers that there had been some movement by the company since the decision to ballot was taken. This movement was confined to the medical redeployment arrangements only and not on the pay aspect itself.
The improvement was to offer a further 25 guaranteed job offers to those requiring it making a total of 50. Of these 25 would be reserved for Train Operators and 25 reserved for all other staff below the level of Business Manager. Again this would all be on a first come first served basis.
The General Grades Committee’s decision on this is as follows:
“That we note the latest offer from LUL. While we welcome improvement to the medical termination in addition to existing arrangements, the package falls short of the aspirations of our members and is therefore not acceptable."
"We further note that LUL have wrongly suggested that the Union would wish to replace existing training arrangements for representatives rather than improve them and that their proposals on this are unacceptable and below ACAS standards. Nor do we see training as part of pay and conditions negotiations at this time. The General Secretary is instructed to reply accordingly to LUL. Branches and Reps to be informed.”
As you can see, management have done nothing to assist the situation. I will of course report further in due course.
