District Centre Group votes yes to strike but thresholds not met

We note that the ballot results are as follows:

The result for strike action is as follows:-

Number of members balloted: 171

Total votes cast 74 (43.3%)

Number voting “Yes” 71 (41.5% of members balloted)

Number voting “No” 3

Spoilt Papers 0

The 40% threshold was met but 50% turnout threshold was not met

Unfortunately we did not meet the turnout threshold requirements of the Tory Anti-Trades Union laws, but congratulations to our negotiators who have made significant progress in talks!

It is crucial that members use their vote.

A full report and reps meeting will follow.

What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.
