Circular: strike called as LUL fail to give assurances on jobs, pensions and working conditions

2nd August 2022

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND - (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/135/22), dated 28th June 2022, this Union gave London Underground until today to provide assurances on three key issues of this dispute:

  • There will be no reduction in jobs
  • There will be no detrimental changes to your pensions
  • There will be no changes to working conditions imposed

The National Executive Committee has noted that LUL has yet again failed to provide us with these assurances. Furthermore, LUL continues to refuse our demands to see the content of a reported offer of financial support to TfL from the Department of Transport.

Consequently, the National Executive has taken the decision to instruct all LUL members in all grades to take further strike action, by not booking on for any duty commencing between 00:01-23:59 hours on Friday 19th August 2022.

I urge you to stand firm together during this strike, which will run in conjunction with strike action by RMT members at Arriva Rail London, and alongside Network Rail and TOCs strike action on Thursday 18th and Saturday 20th August.

I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
