Bakerloo Line Tunnel Damage

A major incident on the Bakerloo Line last week a shut don for several hours. A defect of the tunnel wall was struck by the first trains of the morning. Once the cause was established a large section of the line was closed.

On the same day Tube Lines were on strike for equal pensions with colleagues at London Underground. Tube Lines run the Emergency Response Unit who would normally be the first on hand to deal with serious incidents of this nature.

TfL have released images on twitter appearing to show train damage was minimal. However this incident could easily have been much worse.

London underground have recently been discussing plans to reduce safety checks of track and tunnel areas. Situations such as this demonstrate why such inspections are vital and LU should ends its plans to cut corners where safety is concerned.
