RMT To Celebrate United Nations Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women

The RMT Women's Committee has organised an evening of speeches and music to coincide with the United Nations Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women, 25th November.

This is a free event open to all members - both women and men.

The TUC Disabled Workers’ Committee elected two co-Chairs for 2014/15: Sean McGovern and Janine Booth.

Disabled Workers’ Conference 2014 - Resolutions

We looked at all the resolutions passed by Disabled Workers’ Conference in May. A document containing these resolutions will (eventually) be posted on the TUC website – until then, email me j.booth@rmt.org.uk if you would like me to send it to you.

Here’s a summary of what we are doing on each:

1. Zero hours contracts and disabled workers

Inaugural Festival of Trade Union Education & Organising

Hi, the above event takes place next Saturday 20th September commencing at 11.00hrs and closing at 17.00hrs, at our National Education Centre. Entrance is by ticket or RMT membership card only (licencing requirement). The event hopes to attract as many of our members, officials, reps and staff to the centre to see the facilities and opportunities the centre offers the Union. It is also being organised as a family day with entertainment for children, alongside live music all day, licenced bar (selling locally brewed ‘Bobs Brew’) barbecue and hog roast.

Neasden Branch Recruitment Day

All Neasden Reps and Activists are asked to meet in Wembley Park booking hall on Thursday 28th August at 10am for a general walkabout and recruitment day.
This event is being organised not only to recruit new members, but also to let the frontline staff who are currently in the firing line with the 'Fit For The Future' debacle, that we support them. It doesn't mater what grade you are, they are coming for all of us eventually!
Any branch member who needs to take unpaid leave on this date in order to attend will be reimbursed by Regional Council.
