RMT Rejects London Underground Olympics Offer

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that a well-attended meeting of our London Underground representatives unanimously recommended rejection of London Underground’s Olympics offer, taking the firm view that any offer should be for all grades and that there should not be any changes to the rules governing working conditions set out in the Framework Agreements. We therefore reject London Underground’s offer.

  • a document giving its 'flexibility' demands
  • and an appendix for each of the four functions affected
    • Asset Performance Directorate
    • Stations and Revenue Control
    • Service Control including Duty Reliability Managers
    • Operational Managers in COO and APD, including Network Operational Learning Trainers

RMT Considers LU Olympics Offer

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the offer from London Underground, of an additional £350 lump sum payment to all operational staff in each of the following functions, dependant on the trade unions agreeing to changes in working practices detailed in the correspondence:

  • Asset Performance Directorate
  • Stations and Revenue Control
  • Service Control including Duty Reliability Managers
  • Operational Managers in COO and APD, including Network Operational Learning Trainers

RMT Demands Justice for Service Control Staff

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, and the strong feeling of our service control members about how London Underground is treating them. We therefore agree to declare a dispute with the company, and instruct the General Secretary to prepare a matrix for a ballot for industrial action.

The main issues are as follows:

  • Wholesale job losses arising from the move to Hammersmith Service Control Centre
  • Non-payment of the Service Operator 3 rate of pay
  • Treatment of ex-apprentice secondee Service Operators

RMT Demands Proper Consultation on Service Control Move to Hammersmith

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the report from our Regional Organiser outlining our representatives’ concerns about lack on consultation about the planned transfer of SSR and Piccadilly Line service control to a new control centre at Hammersmith. We note that our Regional Organiser has called a meeting open to all service control members on 31 January.

We instruct the General Secretary to:

  • obtain a report of the Joint Working Party meeting due to take place on 19 January;
