Latest Offer From London Underground On Pay And Conditions Rejected

London Underground management have tabled an improved offer for the 2011 pay award. Having considered this offer your General Grades Committee has made the following decision that “we reject the latest pay offer from London Underground."

Electronic Communications - London Underground

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We share the concerns of some of our representatives that these guidelines may lead to unfair disciplinary action, and may compromise the ability of union members and representatives to correspond with each other in confidence, for example regarding sensitive personal cases.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to obtain advice as to the legality of these guidelines, and to place the advice in front of us once received.

London Transport Regional Council and branches with London Underground members to be advised.

Royal Wedding Bank Holiday Pay and Leave - London Underground

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that TfL granted to London Underground employees a day’s leave in addition to contractual annual leave entitlement, and confirmed that arrangements for the additional public holiday were the same as for other public holidays. We further note that none of our branches have raised any complaints or issues regarding this. We therefore close this file.

Privilege Travel - TfL / London Underground

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that our members have faced stealth increases in charges for family members who have privilege travel entitlements, and note our previous decision to raise this issue with management in order to secure the return of previous arrangements.

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and accept his recommendation that this issue be included in our pay and conditions claim to TfL in 2012. We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this happens.

RMT Rejects Latest LU Pay Offer

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We reject the latest pay offer from London Underground. The fractional increase in the offer for this year is to only 4.75%, which is still significantly below inflation, as the RPI figure for February was 5.5%. Our members are experiencing significant increases in their costs of living, the latest being the outrageous price rises announced by British Gas.

Stratford no.1 Branch Meeting Followed By Meeting To Defend Tunde Umanah

The next Stratford no.1 branch meeting will take place on Thursday 14th July from 5pm at the Leytonstone & District ex-Servicemens Club, Harvey Road, Leytonstone, E11 3BD. (Map.)

It is approximately a two minute walk from Leytonstone underground station.

The branch will then be followed by an all union meeting to discuss and build a defense of sacked colleague Tunde Umanah.

Still Battling to Get Uniform Cleaning Vouchers Restored

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

That we note the correspondence from Gerry Duffy, London Underground Employee Relations Director, dated 15 June 2011. We further note that at the Company Council meeting on 14 April, RMT tabled the issue of LU’s withdrawal of uniform cleaning vouchers, and management stated that should we wish to have the vouchers restored, the company would restore them. Following GGC decision G576 of 11 May 2011, we wrote to LU advising that we wish the vouchers to be restored as soon as possible. We are therefore disappointed that Mr Duffy has now written to us, after some delay, advising that rather than restore the vouchers immediately, he intends to convene a meeting of the Uniform Sub-Committee to discuss this matter further.
