4,000 striking station and revenue control staff have shutdown London Underground in a show of strength to oppose pension attacks and job cuts.
Trains have remained in depots across the network and RMT activists are reporting huge attendances at picket lines despite heavy rain across the capital.
600 station staff jobs will be lost if TfL (Transport for London) plans go through and RMT members face huge detrimental changes to their pensions and working conditions.

Why working overtime works against us…
The sudden sharp increase in station closures demonstrates what we always knew; the job requires more station staff, not fewer.
LU has made clear its intention to get shot of around 600 CSA posts. Talks between RMT and LU have gone nowhere but the strength of the strikes on 1st/3rd March forced a partial (temporary) climbdown on pensions and now LU is looking to take on a grade or a function at a time.
If a Tube strike costs London £50m a day, then it would follow that we generate £18,250,000,000 a year - that's over 18 billion pound!
Watch Jared Wood, our National Executive Committee representative, discuss that and the importance of voting YES YES in our re-ballot.

Further to previous correspondence, you will shortly receive your ballot paper for the above dispute to keep our mandate for action live. I urge you to complete and return your ballot paper as soon as you receive it to demand that LUL agree to our demands and provide the three assurances and guarantees to protect your jobs, pensions and agreements.

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS AND AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)
Further to my previous Circular IR/82/22, 29th March 2022, a meeting of Reps from all LUL functions took place where members' anger at LUL's attempts to impose massive cuts by undermining pensions, jobs and conditions was clearly expressed. The meeting committed to take further all grades strike action and the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to conduct a re-ballot of all LUL members on the same basis as before to ensure our mandate for action remains live.
Reel News has made this excellent video about the demo we held against cuts at TfL.
RMT London Transport Region activists demonstrated at the opening of the Elizabeth Line and explained what the cuts mean, and the effect that 600 jobs losses will have on workers and passengers alike.

DEFEND JOBS, PENSIONS AND AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND
You will have seen a bulletin from Andy Lord today asking you not to vote in this re-ballot.
It is absolutely vital that we get a big turnout and a big Yes vote on both questions to send a clear message to LUL that this dispute is not resolved as LUL has repeatedly failed to provide us with the three following simple demands:-
The attached poster highlights action which the RMT called in January 2022 and remains in place. You can also read the circular from 19th of January below.
