I refer to my previous Circular NP/282/21, 2nd August 2021, following further joint Trade Union meetings to discuss the TfL Pension Fund review the attached pensions leaflet has been drafted to keep all our members across LUL fully engaged and updated on developments.

RMT launches campaign to defend our pensions

RMT launches campaign to defend TfL pension scheme and declares no confidence in review process. Transport for London union RMT announced today that it is launching a campaign to defend the TfL pension scheme in the wake of revelations of how the company intend to process and conduct their pension fund review. Instead of a pension review, RMT is calling for an investigation, with the full involvement of all recognised trade unions, into the systemic transfer of TfL funds to the private sector.

LU quietly announced last week that our terms and conditions, framework agreements and pensions are under scrutiny: On 22 July, at an all union meeting LU management made clear they have entirely accepted the Tories’ terms - that tube workers, and not the government must make up for the massive budget deficit caused by the pandemic.

Further to my email of 15th July 2021, the RMT has today received the Terms of Reference document from Transport for London setting out how they intend to process and conduct the review into the Transport for London Pension Fund. Your National Executive Committee will consider this matter and I will update you accordingly.
