TO ALL LONDON UNDERGROUND CLEANERS WORKING FOR INTERSERVE, ISS AND VINCI
Dear Colleagues,
TUPE TRANSFER OF LONDON UNDERGROUND CLEANING CONTRACT TO ABM
DISMISSAL, D. DAVIS, TRAIN OPERATOR, LOUGHTON – LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)
The following resolution was recently received from our Central Line East Branch:-
FIXED TERM CONTRACTS, WORKSHOP STAFF, PICCADILLY LINE – TUBE LINES (LUL/13/2)
Further to my previous Circular (IR/298/17, 13th July 2017), and following the massive ‘YES’ vote by members in the recent ballot, RMT Reps had a strong position during talks with the Company and after a number of meetings, the following proposal was received:-
The Company commits to transfer all 35 FTC staff to permanent FTE contracts
RMT Union is balloting all Train Operators and Instructor Operators at Loughton, Leytonstone, and Hainault Depots on the East End of the Central Line for STRIKE ACTION following the high-handed and overly severe treatment of Train Operator Danny Davis.
On 10th July, London Underground sacked Danny Davis at CDI for gross misconduct.
Tube union RMT today called for an independent inquiry into London Undergrounds disastrous stations job cuts programs " Fit for the Future " after the ORR - the government regulator - issue London Underground with a legal "improvement notice " following the tragic death of a customer at Canning Town on the 29th of January this year .
General Secretary Mick Cash said;
"The state of transport services right across London this morning serves as the clearest possible warning to this Government that their policy of hacking back the budgets of both Network Rail and Transport for London risks dragging tube and rail in the capital city into permanent chaos.
We have received the updated report from our Central Line East Branch regarding the highhanded and overly severe treatment of Bro Davis by London Underground management and note the following:
- There are many comparators of similar and even more serious incidents where the Train Op had either no action taken against them or a much more appropriate sanction. These were ignored.
- Mitigations contributing to Bro Davis’ incident around his wife’s ongoing illness and home life were brushed over.
Dear Colleague,
Further to Head Office Circular NP/111/17 the National Executive Committee instructed that advice be provided to RMT members on LUL's HOT Procedure.
Please also find attached a copy of the advice and a copy of RMT's pamphlet on 'serious and imminent' danger.
If any further assistance or information is needed on this matter please contact your local RMT representative.
Yours sincerely,
Mick Cash
General Secretary
We note the resolution from our Central Line East Branch regarding the breakdown in the reasonable treatment of our members in relation to palatable drinking water, the serious health & safety issue for staff and the travelling public regarding the matter of the air quality which exceeds the expert recognised safety limits, and the appalling disregard for the safety of staff and public in relation to London Undergrounds insistence on introducing a HOT procedure that completely breaks with established and current approaches to dealing with suspect packages.
