London Transport Region Executive Member Report May 2015

COUNCIL OF EXECUTIVES REPORT MAY 28TH 2015 JOHN REID

PAY AND NIGHT TUBE
We met with Aslef, Tssa and Unite and have embarked on a joint ballot for strike action over the derisory pay offer and the imposition of Night Tube.

EVERY JOB MATTERS
We note the correspondence on file from our Lead Officer and the resolution from Finsbury Park Branch. We instruct the General Secretary to re-ballot all of our Station Staff members on London Underground on the unresolved dispute over Every Job Matters. Which despite huge opposition from staff and public has seen the destruction of ticket offices which we implacably oppose.

Tube Warning As Sex Offences Up 35%

RMT slams Mayor for ignoring union warnings as TFL confirms today that sex offences have risen by 35% in a year
General Secretary Mick Cash said.

"RMT warned right from the off that cash led cuts to station staffing would turn London Underground into a criminals paradise and those who ignored those warnings, and in particular Mayor Boris Johnson, should be hanging their heads in shame today, apologising to Londoners and reversing their lethal cuts programme.

Uniform Committee Update - Feedback Wanted

The Uniform Consultative Committee will be meeting on 25th June. The commitee will discuss the new LU uniform, which has been launched at ‘Gateway’ stations and will be rolled out combine-wide in September.

If you have feedback from where the uniform is already being worn, please pass this to us. We will raise it at the meeting.

At the last UCC, we got LU to agree that if a significant number of problems were raised, such as with the sizing and cut, then LU might make revisions before the uniform is issued to us all in September.

30 Year Old Tube Trains To Be 'Dumped' On Welsh Railway

RAIL UNION RMT today called on rail chiefs to come clean after speculation emerged over the weekend that 30 year old tube trains withdrawn from service on London Underground, currently undergoing refitting to diesel operation, could be dumped on railways across Wales as a cheapskate, rolling stock lash-up that raises both serious safety fears and a threat to the role of the guard.

The news exposes as complete fiction public statements from Government ministers dating back to earlier this year that there were no plans to use the aging, decommissioned underground trains on the main railway.
