As Tube Job Cuts Kick In, Race Crimes Increase

RMT demands end to staff cuts as new figures show continuing increases in race hate crimes on our railways

RAIL UNION RMT today demanded an end to staffing cuts as new figures obtained by the Press Association reveal that the number of suspected race hate crimes taking place on the railways continues to rise with four reported to police every day last year.

The Reality Of Closing Ticket Offices: Transport Workers' Testimonials

Hands Off London Transport has received some testimonials from London Underground workers working at stations where the ticket office has already closed. They clearly show the obviously-damaging impact these closures have on customer service. If LU really wants its customer service to be “world class”, it need to stop closures and re-open ticket offices!

Station Locations for Fit for the Future Announced: How to Review & Appeal your Location

LU has sent out displacement notices to members. Moves are due to take place in 2016.
At first glance it looks like around 1000 station staff have been forcbly dispplaced when they had preferenced reaining on their current areas. Ths is about 25% of all station staff.

There is a also a poster to download i word format. Local reps should insert their contact details and make sure it goes to every station on their group.

London Day Of Action Against Tube Cuts Solidly Supported By Passengers

A day of action against tube cuts on Friday (27th March) was solidly supported by passengers and Londoners, with thousands of leaflets distributed from stations across London. RMT and campaign group Hands Off London Transport, jointly organised the day which was joined by dozens of reps and activists from the RMT union, HOLT group and supporters.

Bermondsey Station: RMT & HOLT Demo Against Cuts

Mayor Boris Johnson and tube bosses plan to close the ticket office at Bermondsey station and cut frontline staff. This is a busy station with a vital ticket office which serves both local residents and those coming into the area to work, It also provides vital information and assistance to elderly and disabled passengers helping them to use London Underground.

We are protesting and taking action to stop the cuts from happening.

REMINDER Day of Action: Friday 27th March

Transport for London is pressing ahead with closing all London Underground ticket offices and is doing so without consulting passengers or adequately trialling the impact first. This is in order that closed ticket offices can be leased out to retail businesses, a short-sighted step that will exacerbate already dangerously high and rising peak passenger through-flow.

Further to my previous Circular (IR/70/15, 12th March 2015), the meeting of Reps and Activists to discuss the possibility of further industrial action on London Underground in relations to defending jobs, services and conditions took place on Monday 16th March.

Gants Hill Station, Hands Off London Transport Event

Central Line East Branch will be holding a Hands Off London Transport event on Friday 27th March at 16.00 hrs at Gants Hill station. This is in protest of the impending closure of the stations ticket office due in July. We will be handing out leaflets to the public any help would be appreciated. Please also pass the details on to anybody who may wish to support this.

As part of the on-going campaign against ticket office closures and staffing cuts on London Underground, HOLT - Hands Off London Transport and Tube workers' union RMT are organising a London-wide day of action.
