Update on Eamonn Lynch, RMT health and safety rep

Eamonn Lynch's Appeal was heard yesterday 25th of October. He was represented by Assistant General Secretary Pat Sikorski. Pat and Eamonn were informed by the Appeal Chairman that they would be informed on Friday of the decision.

Following the Appeal the union was informed by our solicitors that an Interim Relief Tribunal was scheduled for Thursday 28th of October. The union lodged the interim relief tribunal because Eamonn was victimised by LU. Under tribunal rules this has to be done within 7 days of the dismissal. RMT solicitors believe Eamonn has a strong case. If Eamonn wins the Interim Relief Tribunal, LU would be ordered to pay his wages until the full tribunal hearing which could be 6 or 8 months from now.

Within the hour from receiving the news on the interim relief tribunal, the union's solicitors informed Eamonn that LU had requested that it is postponed until the outcome of the Appeal. It was decided that we should agree to this request.

All members will be notified on the outcome of the Appeal on Friday.
