CNIR/322/19                                                16th August 2019

Dear Colleagues,

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN OPERATORS, CENTRAL LINE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/119/19, 27th March 2019), all Central Line Driver members are congratulated for another solid yes vote for both strike action and action short of a strike in this dispute. Despite several meetings having taken place with the Company, the consensus from the Lead Officer and negotiating team was that strike action should be called due to a lack of progress made by the Company towards resolving the issues.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to call on all Train Operators, Night Tube Train Operators and Instructor Operators at Hainault, Leytonstone, Loughton, West Ruislip & White City Traincrew Depots to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

  • 20:00 hours on Thursday 29th August 2019 to 20:00 hours on Friday 30th August 2019.

The Union remains available for further talks with the Company and I will of course keep Branches advised of all further developments.

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN OPERATORS, VICTORIA LINE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/288/19, 31st July 2019) following the unanimous 'YES' vote for strike action returned by Victoria Line members, the Lead Officer and negotiating team have held several meetings with the Company at ACAS. Regrettably, there was little progress made on the issues affecting members and the consensus from the Lead Officer and negotiating team was that strike action should be called.

The National Executive Committee has considered this matter and taken the decision to call on all Train Operators, Night Tube Train Operators and Instructor Operators at Brixton and Seven Sisters Traincrew Depots to take strike action by not booking on for any shifts that commence between:-

  • 20:00 hours on Thursday 29th August 2019 to 20:00 hours on Friday 30th August 2019.

The issues which form this dispute are: breaches of the attendance at work procedure; unlawful deduction of wages; attempts to derecognise the SSTO grade; breaches of the framework agreement; unacceptable noise levels and undue pressure and bullying from Service Control management.

The Union remains available for genuine and meaningful talks with the Company and I will of course keep Branches advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash
General Secretary
