What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

Tube bosses secret W&C dispute attack plan exposed

That we note the report from our Lead Officer that the company’s secret planned backlash against our members has been exposed.

Upon booking on, the company are planning to doorstep our driver members taking industrial action short of a strike, instructing them to confirm they will carry out the new imposed unsafe detraining process; sending them home without pay if they say they are abiding by their unions instruction to work safely.

This union will NOT tolerate our driver members being intimidated or victimised for taking lawful industrial action.

We also have concerns that the company will also extend these threats to other grades such as our station staff members.

If the company achieve their imposition of this procedure on the Waterloo & City Line they will extend this un-assisted “flah & dash” unsafe procedure across the tube network.

Therefore, we instruct the General Secretary to:

Write a letter and send today by first class post to all Train Operators on the Waterloo & City Line advising our members that the full support and legal services of the RMT will be deployed if the company stop any train operatives pay.

Prepare a ballot matrix of all Train Operatives on the entire London Underground network as a precautionary measure.

All London Underground Train Operator members to be advised by email and text.

All Operational branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
