RMT Executive Decision to Ballot

Below is the decision made by RMT's Executive to ballot members on London Underground for industrial action. The Executive made a separate decision to ballot TfL members about jobs and pay.

=====

That we note the resolutions from the London Transport Regional Council, the LU Fleet branch, the LU Engineering branch, the TfL no.1 branch and the report from the Regional Organiser.

Despite representations from this union, LUL management have been breaching their own procedures in relation to attendance and discipline and hav encouraged aggressive and punitive behaviour by local management. LUL have further indicated they are will to break the PPP Code of Conduct in relation to redundancies of almost 1,000 staff. LUL have refused to give this union a serious pay offer in response to our pay claim put in at LUL's request three months ago. It is clear that management are intent on deliverately provoking their own staff and the General Secretary is therefore instructed to notify the company forthwith that we are in dispute and intend to ballot all our members for strike action and action short of a strike.

The General Secretary is further instructed to open a new file on the above issues entitled LUL Agreements, Jobs and Pay dispute, incorporating the following: "LUL Pay and Conditions of Service 2009", "Metronet Pay and Conditions of Service 2009", “Metronet and LUL Pay and Conditions", "Metronet Redundancies" and "Job Cuts LUL".
