RMT demands 'action plan for jobs' at ACAS station dispute talks

Dear RMT members

This afternoon myself and senior RMT Stations reps, alongside TSSA, attended talks at ACAS with LUL. This was the first meeting since last week's ACAS talks and also our first meeting since the reps meeting yesterday.

The first important issue we raised were all the current Health and safety breaches caused by chronic shortstaffing (revealed by the overtime ban).

Management responded by stating they would immediately look into those matters.

Moving onto the five specific areas of major concern with Fit for Future: Stations that were raised last week, LUL generally said they would need further and more detailed discussion but we're not forthcoming on specific detail. They suggested some additional roles could be deployed to stations but wanted to work through the detail.

Both unions said this wasn't good enough and emphasised the sheer urgency and importance of getting back the jobs that were lost, training and addressing our major concerns. This was a live crisis effecting the safe running of LUL.

I had to make plain and clear to LUL that we would consider escalation of the current overtime ban including potentially strike action if these concerns were not addressed urgently. We demanded an action plan for jobs.

We have agreed to return to further talks scheduled to take place on Thursday later this week.

A further update will follow that meeting

Thanks
