Passenger hell as Bakerloo detrainment action continues

Tube drivers on the Bakerloo Line enter second week of industrial action for safety.

Angry Bakerloo passengers have tweeted:

“Bakerloo line has been just an appalling service all week. I leave my house earlier and earlier each day and appear to get to work later!!”

“I would rather hop everywhere than have to get on the Bakerloo Line again.”

“Is there any refund procedure for continuous delays to your service? Bakerloo line is an absolute joke at the moment.”

With over 3000 passenger overcarries into the Queens Park sidings last year, culminating in the near fatality of a 12 year old boy in October, drivers are physically checking that trains are empty of passengers before moving trains into sidings.

This has resulted in severe delays and chaos for the travelling public since the action began on Tuesday with London Underground bosses leading a campaign of misinformation and mismanagement.

Since the drivers action started, LU’s official response has been that there “are minor delays on the Bakerloo Line due to operational issues.” The truth is that tube bosses are deliberately misinforming the public of the real extent and nature of the disruption to the service.

Worse still, management are not allowing the signalling and control room staff to manage the service to try to alleviate the effects of the action. A senior manager has been placed in the Bakerloo control room to oversee that signalling staff do not implement a ‘special service’. Tube bosses are intent on making drivers suffer by being at the wrong end of the line and late for meal breaks and late finishing work.

While tube bosses go out their way to aggravate drivers, passengers are feeling the pain. London Underground bosses response has meant severe delays on the Bakerloo Line and dangerous overcrowding on platforms as passengers are forced back into ticket halls unable to get on trains.

London Underground’s traveling public are being lied to and abused. Passengers on the Bakerloo Line deserve better - as one tweeted yesterday “The #bakerloo line has apparently been rerouted through the seventh circle of hell this morning....” And another makes the point “Bakerloo line needs to sort these delays out”.

One passenger captured the anger of the public when he said "Who has to wait 27 minutes for a tube. Fuck you Bakerloo line".

RMT and ASLEF action for a safe detrainment procedure continues until further notice.
