ACTION ON CENTRAL AND VICTORIA LINES REMAINS ON

TO ALL TRAIN OPERATORS AND INSTRUCTOR OPERATORS, CENTRAL, JUBILEE, NORTHERN, PICCADILLY & VICTORIA LINES AT LONDON UNDERGROUND

Dear Colleagues

IMPOSITION OF NIGHT TUBE DUTIES, TRAIN OPERATORS - LONDON UNDERGROUND

On Tuesday at ACAS your union offered to suspend the industrial action on the Central and Victoria lines, if LUL laid out a clear road map to move back to the pre-pandemic night tube arrangements. This proposal was rejected by management in talks.

LUL continued to emphasise issue of 'financial costs' to the business. However, the union's negotiating team responded to management by stating that Train Operators have kept London moving and continue to keep London moving throughout the global health crisis and that this that should not result in a cost saving exercise and an attack on their terms and conditions. It is not right that our members should be treated in this manner.

It is unanimous view of the union's negotiating team that the company's position is unacceptable and that all industrial action on the Central and Victoria lines, should remain on. The 2016 agreement states 'No existing Train Operators will therefore need to work Night Tube shifts unless they choose to do so. No train operator at a night tube depot will work more weekends (defined as Saturday and Sunday rostered together) than today due to night tube'. The RMT entered into this agreement in good faith and we expect the company to honour this agreement.

The union has advised LUL that we remain available for meaningful talks. I trust this keeps you fully advised on the matter and I will, of course, update you on any further developments.

UNITY IS STRENGTH

SUPPORT THE STRIKE ACTION

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
