LUL Attendance Policy

From RMT Circular No. IR 283, November 27 2008

Dear Colleagues,

LUL ATTENDANCE POLICY

Examples of Management ignoring or twisting clear policies in relation to attendance have recently been brought to my attention.

We have made it clear that we expect Management to abide by their own policies and have listed a series of serious instances where management seem to have flagrantly breeched the rules. It is unacceptable that policies are ignored and all members should be advised of the seriousness of this matter, which could lead to a major dispute.

For now, all representatives should continue to draw any such breaches to the attention of the Functional Representatives or e-mail the Regional Organiser.

It has also come to my attention that LUL are having a PMA manager at CDI hearings in addition to the two managers on the panel. The RMT has not agreed to this and does not accept this practice and we have written to LUL in the strongest possible terms. Personnel managers may be consulted, but they should not be effectively taking part in a disciplinary hearing.

I hope to be able to report more positively on the situation in due course.

(LUL/5/9)

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow GENERAL SECRETARY
